Standardized Testing
Standardized test scores are vital tools by which a school can measure and compare its effectiveness. At St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick, we are very proud of our achievement test scores. Our students have consistently scored well above the Archdioceses of Chicago average.
Along with other Archdiocese of Chicago schools, St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick School uses the i-Ready assessment program from Curriculum Associates three times per year to monitor student growth in key areas. We also use the supporting instructional program avialable from i-Ready to help children achieve learning growth. Students complete 40 minutes a week in Reading i-Ready instruction and 40 minutes a week in Math i-Ready instruction.
Why i-Ready?
i-Ready helps answer critical questions about how best to support our school and our students: Which students need the most strategic support? How are students progressing toward growth goals and grade-level proficiency? i‑Ready provides actionable assessment data that helps us answer these questions. It provides comprehensive insight into student learning across K–8 skills and helps us diagnose individual strengths and learning needs. i-Ready is a powerful tool that:
- Supports day-to-day instruction
- Helps us set meaningful classwide and schoolwide goals
- Engages students through personalized learning and transparent data that they own
